Basketball Year 1-6

At KingsWay, Primary Basketball is played at the Stanmore Bay Leisure Centre. This year, they are trialing a semester-based format, combining two terms into one season (e.g. Terms 1 & 2). By signing up, students must commit to both terms, ensuring teams remain consistent. Please check that winter sports schedules do not conflict with basketball games, as full commitment to both terms is required.

All Auckland Council facilities hosting children’s basketball/miniball now require players under 19 to wear mouthguards, per Basketball NZ rules. Mouthguards are available at The Warehouse, pharmacies, or sports shops and must be molded before first use. Please prepare them at least a day before your child’s first game.

Leisure Centre playing days for Semester 2 (Term 3 & 4)

• Year 1 & Year 2 Miniball – Wednesday 30th July  to Wednesday 5th November – 13 WEEKS
• Year 3 & Year 4  Miniball – Thursday 31st July  to Thursday 6th November – 13 WEEKS
• Year 5 & Year 6 Basketball – Tuesday 29th July  to Tuesday 4th November – 13 WEEKS

No play dates: School holidays  22^ndSeptember-5^th October

Are held for Year 5 & 6 teams only

Leisure Centre Registrations for  Semester term 3 & 4 close: 9am Thursday 10th July 

• Year 1 & 2 – $194 for an 13 week semester
• Years 3 & 4 – $194 for an 13 week semester
• Years 5 & 6 – $194 for an 13 week semester

North Harbour Basketball, have now taken over the running of the Leisure Centre basketball league. They require us to register our teams through Game Day, which is their official registration platform. This means ALL parents will now need to complete a two-step registration process. Both registrations need to be filled in before your child’s registration is deemed as complete.

Once registrations close, teams will be made up, coaches and managers sorted and parents will be contacted with further information approx. a week after registrations close with further details.

KingsWay School has a user pays policy for all sports. This means ALL fees must be paid prior to commencement of competition or play, unless an AP has been arranged with the sports department. Please email sport@kingstatic.allteams.dev  if you would like to set up such a payment. 

The basketball charge includes: 

• North Harbour Basketball Charge, North Harbour Basketball Membership fee, Glory League Fee
• Kingsway charges: administration fee,  equipment, uniform, sporty registration & Teacher in Charge of Sport costs. 

If you do not register your child by the date the registration closes there may be a $10 late fee applied and we cannot guarantee your child a place in a team.
